Gordon Smillie

Gordon is Managing Director of TAAP Limited, a leading provider of mobile business applications.
Gordon’s started his career with Kodak and then spent a decade with IBM in various management roles, leaving as Industry Director in the Utilities sector. Subsequently he joined Microsoft and over ten years led many parts of the business, including product and channel marketing, sales and technical groups. He was Enterprise Sales Director on the UK board as well as being a member of the Enterprise Global Leadership Team, responsible for all sales and service operations to corporate customers. During his tenure the company won the Sunday Times “Best Company to Work For” award and achieved rapid growth. More recently he was Group Director of Portfolio Strategy and Managing Director, ICT for BT.
He has served on the Parliamentary IT Committee; been a member of the Technology Leadership Group of the Princes Trust and is a lifetime Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers. Gordon has an autistic son, Alex and hence understands the issues faced by parents of autistic children. He was a member of the Advisory board of Autism Speaks for a number of years before becoming a Trustee of the renamed Autistica in January 2010.
