Autistica Charity Lunch
Tuesday, 6th July 2010
We had a magical day at Cliveden House with the BBC Broadcaster, Ken Bruce speaking about his son - very openly and honestly.
The sun shone and nearly 50 guests enjoyed champagne on the Terrace overlooking the magnificent formal gardens of Cliveden, followed by a delicious lunch of sea bass and fruit tartlet with honey ice cream in the French Dining Room.
One of our most amazing supporters, Caroline Hill spoke movingly of her experiences as a 'Mum' and why she supports Autistica.
The auction that followed included a weekend at the luxury 4* Landmark Hotel in London, a Barbour Jacket and a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee. The auctioneer did a marvellous job. The auction also included a last minute lot of a day's golf at Sunningdale on the Old Course, which was very popular amongst those guests present and gratefully received.
A raffle of sumptuous prizes followed, a flower auction and then a talk/tour of the House which was enjoyed by many of our guests. Several of whom stayed on until the early evening, enjoying and exploring the extensive grounds.
Our guests had a wonderful time and raised a fabulous £10,550 (and counting) to support the charity's latest research including key projects designed to secure earlier diagnosis and treatment of autism.
Head of Events, Lynn Hart said it had been a great success. "Ken Bruce was the most wonderful speaker and we were thrilled to have him attend our event. It was the most enjoyable day in all respects. I have received a huge amount of local support for this occasion and would like to thank everyone who helped so freely. Special mentions must go to Mark our chauffeur for the day; Charlotte Snowden, our photographer and Candy Gilbart-Smith who did our flowers. Without these people and the help/support of many others, we would not have been able to have such a super day. Thank you."
