World Autism Awareness Month
We are so excited about World Autism Awareness Month this April, and it is really easy to for everyone to get involved and help make a difference, here's how:
We are delighted to announce that we will be launching a partnership with Springfree Trampoline on the 1st April. Springfree makes the world's safest trampoline and is the only trampoline to be endorsed by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents – they're also super fun too!
During April Springfree will be donating £20 from the sale of every trampoline to Autistica to help fund vital autism research. To find out more and to order yours from the 1st April please go to www.rainbowplay.co.uk
The BT Tower joins the Empire State Building turning blue for WAAD
The BT Tower is once again leading the way by lighting up blue for Autism Awareness on the 2nd April. In addition to this, and in partnership with Optikinetics Ltd (specialists in projection lighting) Luton Town Hall will also be lit up. They join iconic buildings across the world lighting up blue including the Empire State Building and Sydney Opera House. We're encouraging as many buildings as possible to join in this global celebration, if you are connected to a building and would be interested in getting involved, please consider donating an evening of blue light. Contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can make a lifetime of difference by giving just one hour's salary. Use our handy calculator to help you work out how much this is, and our donate button links straight to our super secure Paypal where you can give via credit card. Of course anything you are able to give no matter how big or small will make such a positive difference to people with autism and their families.
This can be as big or small as you want. From a collection in your shop to wearing blue to work or a bake sale at your office. Often the simple ideas are the most effective but we love the wacky ones too! We would love to support your event by sending balloons, t-shirts, stickers, collection tins and information about our work. To support Autistica and get your fundraising pack please contact us on email@example.com or call 05601 183 601.
A number of our supporters are taking on some really exciting challenges in support of World Autism Awareness Day.
Richard, who has a wonderful five year old autistic nephew called Finn, has challenged himself to complete a million metres on a rowing machine. He started on 18th January and will be finishing on April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day. He aims to raise £1,000 for Autistica and has already reached £847. As part of the challenge he is planning to row a Marathon (26 miles) on Saturday 22nd March – wish him the very best of luck! To see more of what Richard is up click here.
Damon is doing a nine mile trek up Goatfell, the highest point on the Isle of Arran. He has already raised a whopping £550 and says this is just the beginning - he plans to complete at least one trek each month in the summer! We are delighted to have his support.
