Peter Dilnot is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the FTSE 100 global Aerospace and Defence technology business, Melrose Industries plc. Previously, he was the chief operating officer at Melrose, where his responsibilities included CEO of GKN Aerospace. In parallel, he was a non-executive director at Rotork plc, where he was a senior independent director until 2024.
Before joining Melrose, Peter was CEO of international processing businesses, Renewi plc and Shanks Group plc. Before this, he was a senior executive at Danaher Corporation, a leading global industrial business listed in the US, and also spent seven years at the Boston Consulting Group in London and Chicago. In his early career, he was a helicopter pilot in the British Army, including service with NATO and the UN.
He has a degree in mechanical engineering and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Peter is married with two sons, one of whom is autistic.
