Time management in autism

Investigating the timing processes in people on the autism spectrum

North East Family Online

Why is this research being done?

Many autistic people tell us they have problems with timing and the perception of time. Some studies support this theory. Dr Daniel Poole and his team at the University of Manchester want to understand this link further. They want to know why autistic children can struggle with the concept of time. They hope this research can lead to the development of tools that can help autistic children with the skills they need to understand and manage time.

Who are they looking for?

This study is recruiting parents who have a child or children who:

  • is currently between 7 and 12 years of age
  • has a diagnosis of autism
  • attends a mainstream school

What will be involved?

You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that asks you questions about your child's ability and difficulties with telling the time, judging how much time has passed and managing their time.
