My name is Sarah and in April during World Autism Acceptance Month I did a bungee jump for Autistica.

In my previous job, during the pandemic, I supported my team at work with internal communications which involved fundraising for Autistica. My first fundraiser was an animal crossing themed catwalk which was live streamed on Twitch and raised around a £1,000!

With my new job at nDreams, I wanted to repeat my fundraising success. Through various conversations this resulted in me very much accidentally broaching myself into doing a bungee jump!

For the bungee jump, we travelled up to Birmingham and it was a beautiful day, I was very relieved it didn’t rain! The nerves took a while to kick in, I did not want to freak myself out so when it was my turn to jump, I was very quick. It was an amazing experience, there’s a moment where you can’t feel anything but the wind on your face, it's such a unique feeling.

I felt euphoria afterwards, so happy, and glad I had done it.

I managed to raise over £500 which was over the target I had set, I plastered it all over my social media and the donations really rolled in the day of the bungee jump as I kept people posted with live updates.

I am so proud to have fundraised for Autistica. Autism has been so misunderstood and underrepresented in society. The research Autistica does is transforming the lives of autistic people, their family and their friends.
