We are thrilled to have our hard work recognised this year, with four major awards

It has been a rather busy year for Autistica. We are funding more work than ever before thanks to a growing number of supporters and a passionate, dedicated team behind the scenes. It was such a privilege to be nominated alongisde other incredible organisations, and even better to win!

Here are the four trophies we added to our shelf this year:

Best Business-Charity Partnership

2017 National Fundraising Awards
2017 Better Society Awards

In 2016-17, our partnership with Deutsche Bank raised a record £1.1 million for autism research. We ran a programme of autism events to educate, inform and engage employees. We used their skills for various voluntary and advisory roles. Together we created two ground-breaking projects: developing a smartphone app prototype to support autistic people with anxiety and creating a research-backed internship scheme to help autistic graduates into work.

Fundraising Charity of the Year (Small)

2017 National Fundraising Awards

Our new fundraising strategy focused on our partnership with Deutsche Bank, to generate income and other relationships and seeking partnerships in sectors with an affinity for autism. Alongside this, our policy and information campaigns supported our fundraising by making our research urgent and relevant to people's lives. This lead to an income increase of 550%, allowing us to fund more research than ever before.

Rising Chief Executive of the Year

2017 Third Sector Awards 2017

Jon Spiers has transformed Autistica since joining in 2015. This year, he personally secured donations of £1.65m to support our vital research.

Working with our Director of Science, Jon oversaw a national consultation to identify the autism community's top priorities for research. He led an international campaign around early death in autism. As a direct result, funders announced new investments and the UK government and the NHS implemented a number of our  policy recommendations.

The hard work doesn't stop here. We hope these awards inspire our top team and loyal donors to keep striving for bigger and better autism research for long, healthy, happy lives.
