Autistica have collaborated with researchers, clinicians and community members to create a new mental health resource. It will help service providers, such as helpline workers, to better support autistic children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

The evidence-based resource has been designed to provide an understanding of mental health challenges and sucidality in relation to autism. It explains the barriers autistic people face in accessing support and suggest adaptations to make services more inclusive.

NHS England commissioned the resource along with two webinars for the new NHS crisis services supporting children and young people. The resources are also now available for use nationwide by the Samaritans.

We are delighted to share the resource and hope that it will help to create more inclusive experiences for autistic people in crisis.
